Biography:As a full scholarship student, I received my BA from the Department of Political Science of Bilkent University (Ankara, Turkey) in 2002. I got my PhD from the Department of Political Science of University of Pittsburgh in 2007. Since 2008, I have been working at the Department of Political Science of Bilkent University. My research interests include ethnicity, ethnonationalism, civil-military relations, institutional theory (e.g. path dependence, informal institutions), Kurdish ethnopolitics and Turkish politics. I have published articles in such journals as European Political Science Review, European Journal of International Relations, Ethnic and Racial Studies, Armed Forces & Society, Nations and Nationalism, Critical Policy Studies, Mediterranean Politics and Turkish Studies. I have received scholarships, grants and awards from various institutions such as the European Union Center of Excellence (University of Pittsburgh), Fulbright, TUBITAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey), and the Council of Higher Education (Y├╝ksek├Â─čretim Kurulu, Y├ľK). I also received 2013 Distinguished Young Scientist Scholarship of Science Academy Association (BAGEP). I spent 2014-2015 academic year at Princeton University as visiting scholar. My studies at Princeton were funded by Fulbright and TUBITAK.
